'There he is!'
Reiira saw the red-head walking in the direction of the restaurant Temari had arranged.
"Found him."
I whispered into the phone. Temari, Kankuro, and all of the Konoha Shinobi were on the other line.

It was Gaara's special day today. Temari had told Gaara they'd have a family dinner with just the Sand Siblings and would meet him at the place because Temari and Kankuro had some last minute business to finish, but secretly organised a surprise party with the Konoha Shinobi at Gaara's house for him. He had been working so hard after all, it would be nice to give him a little shock.
I was arriving late anyway, so I offered to walk with him there so he wouldn't be lonely, and also because I am in love with Gaara... but I was good at hiding things, so no one knew.

"Good," Temari's voice sounded through, "Bring him back quick, the food's almost done."
"Okay!"

I shut my phone and ran up beside him.
"Hai Gaara-sama!"
Gaara turned to me looking surprised.
"Reiira! What are you doing here?"
"I was looking for you!"
I smiled cheerfully. I managed to control the heat rising into my cheeks.
"Me? Why?"
"Uhh... because... Temari-san said that she'd rather cook at home because the restaurant didn't have salted tongue OR gizzard, so she said she'd make it for you!"
"Oh. But she would have contacted me first..."
"Heheh, I offered to come and get you, I was passing by your house anyway and I didn't want you to be lonely so..."
I felt my face heat up a little and averted my eyes from him while he scrolled through his phone for any messages from Temari or Kankuro.
"Oh well. I guess I should go back then."
"I'll come with you!"
"No, it's fine, your house is in the opposite direction, it would be a bit troublesome to walk home by yourself in the dark... I'll take you home first."
"No! It's fine, really Gaara. I want to give my greetings to Temari-san and Kankuro-san anyway."
I gestured to the small trail of embers that smoked out from my hair.
"You know I'm always surrounded by fire, so I'll be fine! But thank you for your concern~"
"It's only normal to be worried about a friend."
His lip curled up slightly. I felt my heart throb against my ribcage and my face heat up a little more.
At that moment, my phone buzzed.
"Who is it?
Gaara asked.
"Oh. It's Temari-san. She want's you back because the food will get cold... we should hurry!"
I grabbed Gaara's hand and started to move, but remembered what I really wanted to say to him.
My cheeks flushed as I turned around.
"Ah, Gaara-sama..."
"What's wrong Reiira?"

'Shit... I can't say it...'

"Ha-happy birthday Gaara-sama~ "

Kyaaa~!!! I'm sooo happy I finished this!!!
This is DEFINITELY my favourite piece of work [even though I stuffed up in some parts ] that I've drawn so far and I am going to put this up in my locker!!
